Overview:  The Fitness Model Search category is ideal for lean, fit, toned, athletic, symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing individuals who wish to pursue a career as a fitness model, appear in magazines &/or aspire to compete in fitness. It is also very popular amongst competitive Fitness Competitors who wish to further their exposure within this industry, as the physiques are very similar.

The Look: You will notice there is not one specific type of look that excels in this category Rather it is the overall package and how well your leanness, tone and fitness level complements your skeletal structure, personality and physique.

Judging: Overall, judges are looking for good muscle tone, posture and symmetry; confidence, charisma, projection and exceptional style on stage; ability to pose in interesting, photographable ways; lean body composition; great stage presence; an attractive, healthy, vibrant look that could be realistically marketable in the industry; style & fluidity of walk and turns; attractiveness, marketability and general impression; and clothing that properly highlights their fit physique.

The body should be balanced and symmetrical (eg. upper vs lower body, front vs back, ratio of chest to hips). Abs should be visible or somewhat visible, but striations and vascularity should be minimal.  There is not a specific percentage of body fat or musculature that is ideal for this category, rather it's what best suits that athlete as per their skeletal structure and frame.

Judges also look for a vibrant, healthy look; a great attitude; impeccable grooming; and good outfit selection which accentuates both the physique and athlete personality. Models should appear comfortable and relaxed on stage unlike bodybuilders, fitness competitors and figure athletes who assume a more rigid stance.

2 Rounds of Competition:

2. Themewear Round (40%)

wear themed outfits that show off their personality, spirit and individual style. Outfits can range from simple sportswear clothing to elaborate costumes. The way it is worn and the confidence and personality exuded helps determine the final score.

For those who select a costume its best to play up to the theme with their presentation, walk, turns and overall attitude. Athletes are encouraged to have fun and enjoy this round!

Judges look at each competitor's physique, fitness, personal style and athleticism. Competitors can incorporate accessories, makeup and footwear that complement their choice of clothing (eg. high heels, tennis shoes or inline skates).

Remember the idea is to attract and hold the judges attention, yet presentation should not be too over the top as that could result in a deduction of points.

Please remember that this is a Model Search competition so outfits should display your physique.

Themewear- Tips:

  1. *Athletes are not specifically judged on their outfits, however they can leave an impression with the judges and may add to the score.

  2. *Please remember that outfits should always display your physique. Form fitting clothes are ideal &/or those that don’t cover up too much of your skin.

Walk & Turns:

When in a group athletes will be asked to perform a  series of four (4) quarter turns.  Individually the type of turn is up to the discretion of the athlete. Turns should always be directed to the judges to ensure they have a proper viewpoint and athletes should practice the style and stance that best displays their physique and posture so they appear symmetrical, muscular and lean.

Athletes can be creative and include a trademark wave, hair flip etc. Athletes physiques are compared and ranked against each other. They are also given an individual point score based on their walk-out. Confidence, poise, outfit, overall appearance and style of turns are also evaluated through out. Athlete must appear comfortable on stage as well and not as rigid like their bodybuilding and figure counterparts. They should show some personality and appear as though they enjoy being in the spotlight.
